Bolton Metropolitan Borough Council has used a range of IPL Group products in the construction of refuge islands throughout the town. RS140df sockets were used for the installation of wide-based, illuminated signposts, and RS50x50 sockets were used to install Weebol flexible bollards.

Refuge islands are often damaged by passing traffic. The installation of these roadside fixtures using RS sockets allows for damaged items to be replaced easily without the need for further excavation or groundworks, which significantly reduces disruption and maintenance costs.
