On Sunday, 23rd July 2012, a large electricity transformer was transported from Ellesmere Port to Ocker Hill Power Station. The planned route for the 80-metre long, six-metre wide, and 400-tonne rig went through Wolverhampton. The journey required negotiating difficult junctions where street furniture and traffic signal poles needed to be removed.
This process had the potential to be hugely time-consuming, expensive, and disruptive. However, thanks to IPL group's Retention System™ sockets, the task was completed quickly, easily, and at a fraction of traditional costs. All traffic signal poles (TSPs) installed in RS115 sockets were temporarily removed or laid flat on the ground as the wide load passed by.
