In 2007, new lighting columns were installed in the central market square in Den Bosch, The Netherlands, using RS115 sockets. The columns are removed at least once a year for traditional carnivals to clear the square and facilitate local fun fairs.
Previously, this work involved costly and disruptive excavation and reinstatement of the posts. It is now done quickly and economically. During the carnivals, the lighting columns that are not in use are moved — without damage to the posts — to spare RS115 sockets at the edge of the square for safe, vertical storage.
