During the 2011 upgrade of the M11, one of Ireland's busiest national routes, IPL group supplied Retention System™ sockets and Sapa lighting columns. The RSe226 sockets were used to install 14-metre high, passively safe aluminium lighting columns that were rated NE3 to EN12767.

In 2013, one of the columns was struck by a vehicle that had left the carriageway. The NE3 column and RS socket installation ensured that the vehicle occupants did not suffer serious injuries during the collision. In addition, the RS socket foundation remained intact, allowing for the safe and easy replacement of the lighting column with minimum roadside crew and traffic management.
