At Connubia on Blackthorn Drive in Sandyford, Aramark faced a complex challenge: ensuring robust asset protection while facilitating efficient delivery access. IPL group implemented a tailored solution using X-Last Quay bollards with two types of retention sockets: the RS115 Retention Socket and the X-Last Bollard Base.
The X-Last Quay bollards, made of semi-rigid polyurethane, offer an optimal blend of strength and flexibility. These bollards can bend under impact and return to their original shape, providing durability in urban environments without the risk of rust.
The majority of the site is secured using X-Last Quay bollards installed in RS115 Retention Sockets. This configuration offers maximum protection to the underlying infrastructure, although removal of the bollards from these sockets is time-consuming when necessary.
In designated delivery access areas, the same X-Last Quay bollards are installed in X-Last Bollard Bases. While these bases offer less infrastructure protection, they allow for rapid removal of the bollards, prioritising speed and operational efficiency. During deliveries, authorised personnel can swiftly remove the bollards from the X-Last Bollard Bases and temporarily store them in additional empty X-Last Bollard Bases placed nearby. Once the delivery is complete, the bollards are promptly returned to their primary locations.
This dual-socket approach allows Aramark to maintain stringent security measures across most of the site while creating strategic points for quick access. This innovative solution enables Aramark to effectively balance robust asset protection with the need for efficient delivery access, demonstrating a nuanced approach to urban security and access management that adapts to specific operational requirements.
