Installation & Maintenance

• Installation: The SOLABEL is supplied complete with pre-finished post, beacon, and solar engine. Fixing options include rooted or flanged post. The installation process involves:
  1. Excavating a foundation hole (e.g., 800mm deep for rooted post, size varies by administrative area and coastal proximity, assuming poor ground conditions).
  2. Marking the post 800mm up from the bottom for finished ground level and inserting the column base into the hole with the door facing away from oncoming traffic.
  3. Backfilling with standardised concrete (ST2 to BS 8500) up to the ground level marker, ensuring verticality with a spirit level, and allowing concrete to set.
  4. Uncoiling beacon drop leads and passing them down the post into the base housing. Ensuring the gallery drain hole is clear before placing the beacon on top of the post, facing traffic. Locking the beacon by tightening four gallery screws and ensuring button head screws engage in pre-drilled holes.
  5. Assembling the solar panel support, feeding the output lead through the bracket, placing the bracket over the plug aperture, and securing with tri-head screws.
  6. Connecting the solar output lead to the PV connection lead. Placing the solar panel over the spigot, rotating it to point directly south (ensuring unobstructed view of the sun), checking upper seal compression, and tightening grub screws to lock the panel.
