The Sigrist ColorPlus 3 Nitrat is a bypass absorption meter designed for the on-line measurement of nitrate concentration. Nitrates are nitrogen compounds that occur naturally in the soil but also enter it through fertilisers, and even small amounts in drinking water can pose a health risk. The ColorPlus 3 Nitrat offers continuous online monitoring. A long-lived xenon flash lamp is used as a light source, exhibiting very low intensity loss over time. The medium is measured using two optical path lengths, allowing for the determination of any soiling. The measured value is automatically corrected, and the instrument informs the user when the measuring cell requires cleaning. The PVC cover can be removed without tools, providing free access to the optics for simple cleaning. The instrument indicates any necessary maintenance. The control unit SICON selectively displays values, graphs, status, and alarms on a state-of-the-art touchscreen with a colour display. Internal data storage enables the visualisation of measurements over the last 32 days. The instrument is primarily used in the treatment of drinking water.
