• Main Valve: HYTROL AE/GE/NGE series.
• Control Mechanism: Utilizes a Flow Control (CDHS-18) that responds to differential pressure changes sensed across an Orifice Plate Assembly (X52-A) to modulate the main valve, maintaining a relatively constant rate of flow.
• Pilot System Protection: Includes a Strainer (X44-A) in the pilot supply line to protect against foreign particles.
• Isolation: Features Isolation Ball Valves (RB-117) to isolate the pilot system from main line pressure.
• Speed Control: A Needle Valve (6120) controls the opening speed of the main valve.

Installation & Maintenance

• Installation: The Orifice Plate Assembly may be fixed directly to the main valve outlet flange; however, better control is obtained if it is installed in stabilized flow conditions downstream of the valve. The recommended distance for optimal control is X=5 pipe diameters and Y=3x pipe diameters from the valve outlet. Ensure system valves are open upstream and downstream, and air is removed from the main valve cover and pilot system at all high points. Isolation cocks must be open during normal operation.
• Adjustment: To increase the rate of flow, turn the adjusting screw of the differential pressure control clockwise. To make the main valve close or open more slowly, turn the adjusting stem of the needle valve (5) clockwise. The suggested initial setting for the needle valve is ½ to 1 turn open; avoid closing it completely as this will prevent valve operation. If high-speed opening and low-speed closing are required by operating conditions, it may be necessary to replace the original orifice plug of the strainer by a smaller one.
• Maintenance: Periodic cleaning of the strainer (4) is recommended to protect the pilot system from foreign particles.
